Solmate Socks was started in the year 2000 by Marianne Wakerlin with the simple idea that “Life’s too short for matching socks.” As a lifelong textile artist, she knew there was a market for beautifully crafted socks made in America.
When Marianne retired in 2015, her son, Randy, and daughter-in-law, Lisa, dedicated themselves to carrying on the family tradition of creating highly coveted, treasured works of art that can be worn on your own two feet.
Working in collaboration with Recover™, Solmate utilize recycled cotton yarns made from remnants from production scraps and used clothing to knit their products. While these scraps would normally go into a landfill, Recover's Upcycling System allows them to turn regular textile waste into quality, upcycled yarns. These remnants are ground down and re-spun into our own yarns, without adding any additional dyes or colors in this process, keeping them as "clean" as possible. These recycled yarns are also certified by the Global Recycling Standard and Oeko-Tex, making them even that much more awesome and approved for you.

62% Recycled Cotton, 22% Recycled Polyester, 15% Nylon, 1% Lycra
Their new custom recycled wool-blend is the perfect combination of strength, softness and warmth. Made with Merino Wool in the same thickness as the mid-weight cotton socks, the premium recycled yarns in these new socks allow for breathability and comfort, without sacrificing style.
